About
We build the one thing a lost document has never had.
A return path, printed onto the document itself, that reaches its owner in seconds and never exposes them to a stranger.
Why we exist
Docfense began with an observation rather than an idea. Documents that prove something about a person are lost constantly, are found almost as often, and are returned almost never. Everything between finding and returning is a gap in design, not a gap in goodwill.
We chose the two documents where the gap costs the most in this region: a yellow fever card, without which a traveller does not board, and a student identity card, without which a student does not sit an examination.
What we will and will not claim
We will not say the tag is cryptographically unbreakable.
We say what the platform actually performs: the finder confirms the number on the document in hand, and the platform checks it against a stored one way hash.
We will not publish a recovery rate we have not measured.
The figure will be published from the first pilot onward, whatever it turns out to be.
We will not sell your data, and we will not show a finder your name, your number, or your document number.
The finder is identified. The owner is not exposed.
We will not charge you twice.
One payment per document, and no renewal.
How we hold ourselves to it
| What we measure | The standard we hold |
|---|---|
| Alert delivery rate per channel | Above 99 per cent |
| Time from scan to owner acknowledgement | Median under 15 minutes |
| Share of scans that pass verification | Above 85 per cent |
| False alert rate | Below 1 per cent |
| Recovery rate | Published honestly from the first pilot |
Where we operate
Docfense Yellow is Africa wide. Docfense Campus begins with Kenyan universities and Kenyan health facilities, then follows the same channel into Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana and Nigeria.
Hold us to it.
